Dr. Neil Sheehan is a CORU registered and Irish Chartered Physiotherapist. He has been involved in the treatment of injuries for over 25 years. Neil graduated with honours from University College Cork with a Masters Degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2014. He graduated with his PhD in 2021. He has been involved in coaching sport for 35 years and has had teams compete successfully both Nationally and Internationally.

As well as being a Chartered Physiotherapist, Neil has extensive qualifications in the areas of Sports Therapy and Joint Manipulation.

Neil is an adviser in Sports Therapy for the Federation of Holistic Therapies for UK and Ireland and is a regular speaker at their conferences.

Neil is Chairperson of the Register of Orthopaedic & Soft Tissue Therapists of Ireland. (ROSTI)

Further education is a topic that Neil feels strongly about and he regularly travels to attend training courses to keep up-to-date with the latest research and techniques.

Shane Mooney has been involved in sport from an early age. He played senior hurling with Ballymartle GAA, Riverstick, Cork for many years. Shane also played soccer with Kinsale AFC and he played basketball with Neptune Basketball Club, Cork for 7 years. He currently plays with Ballincollig Basketball Club.

Shane’s involvement in sport sparked his interest in the treatment of sports and general injuries and has led to him following a career in the treatment and rehabilitation of injury.

Shane regularly attends courses in Remedial Therapies, Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation techniques so as to cater for the needs of clients.

Shane is a registered Orthopaedic & Soft Tissue Therapist and sits on the board of the Register of Orthopaedic & Soft Tissue Therapists of Ireland.

Do I need a GP referral?

Although we receive a number of GP referrals for clients, you can make an appointment directly by contacting Sheehan Physiotherapy Clinic on 021 4877959.

Where is the Clinic?

The Clinic is situated in Exchange House on Main Street Ballincollig. Directly opposite Downs Supervalu Supermarket. We are on the first floor and we have lift access if required.

What is the cost per visit?

Our cost per visit is €60. We also offer very competitive club rates for members of sports clubs who use Sheehan Physiotherapy Clinic exclusively.

How long does a treatment take?

Each visit lasts for 40 minutes. However you might require 50 minutes on the first visit as we will take a full case history and carry out a detailed examination of the injury / condition.

What can you treat?

At the clinic we are experienced in the treatment of all muscular skeletal pain, whether caused by trauma, repetitive strain, wear-and-tear or without any obvious cause. We also carry out post operative rehabilitation. For athletes who don't have a specific injury at the moment, we provide sports massage treatments pre and post event, as well as maintenance programs to help avoid injury.
